DO'S AND DON'TS FOR MAKEUP BEGINNERS

Do’s and Don’ts for Makeup Beginners

Makeup offers a fun and beautiful way to express yourself, but when you’re a beginner the whole aspect of “doing your own makeup” can feel intimidating.

Below are some beginner’s friendly do’s and don’ts tips that can help to improve your makeup application.

Makeup Don’ts

1. Don’t buy a lot of Products

When you’re a beginner to makeup, the last thing you need to do is go out and invest in a lot of products. Start off with the basics, every beginner makeup kit needs an eyebrow pencil, lipstick and a mascara.

2. Don’t apply makeup to a dirty face

Applying makeup to a dirty skin can cause skin problems later on in life. Always wash your face or moisturize your face before applying makeup.

3. Don’t skip doing your eyebrows

Your brows will perfectly frame your face. You can use a matte eyeshadow to fill in your eyebrows. You can use a matte eyeshadow to fill in your eyebrows if you don’t have a brow pencil.

NB: Don’t go too dark, it can create an unwanted cartoon effect.

Go for a colour that’s the same shade as your brows are a little lighter.

4. Don’t create fake brows

Work with your eyebrow outline and try to create a more defined outline.

5. Don’t use dirty brushes to apply your makeup

Using dirty brushes can introduce bacteria to your skin. Instead of taking the risk, set aside a day on the weekend to wash your brushes.

When cleaning your brushes use warm water and a little shampoo. After rinsing the brushes under warm water lay them on a clean towel to dry.

6. Don’t sleep in Makeup

Sleeping in makeup clogs the pores, it can make the pores bigger. Also, it can dry out the skin.

Makeup Do’s

1. Apply makeup in a natural light or use a ring light

This gives you an idea of what your makeup will look like once you are through. It’s best to set your makeup station near to a window.

2. Apply Concealer After Foundation

When you have dark circles under your eyes, minor blemishes, or redness, a concealer can do wonders to hide them.

3. Blend Your Eye Shadows

If you choose to wear multiple eye shadows on your lids, be sure to blend!.. Get a perfect brush and blend the colours together to create a smoother transition.

4. Use a Primer

A makeup primer is a base that you use under your makeup. It creates a smoother surface for your makeup and also helps to moisturize the skin underneath. Primer also helps your makeup last longer.
